Hi guys - looking at buying an es350:

2009 model
25K miles
CPO
Premium pkg
Vehicle was leased previously
Original MSRP was ~$37k

Dealer is asking $25.8K for it (without taxes etc). I'm in the Wash DC metro area.

Is that a fair price?

I have this same car. IMHO, it's a fair price for a CPO vehicle. I figure the value of the CPO warranty to be about $1.8k, so that puts the value of the car at $24k. As a CPO car, make sure it is like new!! You have one shot at negotiations, so get the most for free you can while negotiations are in your favor. Check the spare, wheel lock, also look for owners manual and trunk cargo net (they were missing on my car), make sure the latest version of the Nav maps has been loaded (they updated mine), make sure the 25k service has been done, make sure a safety check has been done on tires, brakes and rotors (I got 4 new tires and new pads with rotors turned with 32k miles), check all leather for tears or scuffs and correct if needed, dealer also replaced my floor mats, check paint condition for chips and dents (I got my hood and rear bumber repainted), get the paperwork for the next service to be free as part of the CPO warranty, check the vent grills for broken vents (common problem and dealer had to replace the center console vents for the rear seats.) and ask to see the Carfax and the service records for your VIN. Sometimes the lowest price isn't all you consider if they truly recondition the car to like new. I didn't pay the lowest price for mine, but I got a like new car that everyone thinks is newer that 2009 and shouldn't need much service for the next 40k miles.

Ditto Poqman. Once you sign on the line, your on. Insist on an addendum that lists all items to be fixed, updated and replaced. Have the sales manager sign it (not just the salesman) and you should be good to go.

09's are definitely overpriced ... you can get 2010 for a little more... research pays off

Regarding the purchase of a CPO ES 350, I'm also in the market for one and have come across one vehicle in particular, but not sure if there is something wrong with it or not. Currently, it is listed slightly under 18K for a 2007 ES 350 with 63K on it. I spoke with the dealer last week as they advertised it for $18,488 and even though they said they could not drop the price, it was changed to $17,988 today.

My question is even though it is a CPO vehicle, it has been in an accident, and according to the Carfax, the vehicle had been towed. I understand that an accident from Carfax can be something as little as repainting a bumper. Is this something that I should be concerned about since the vehicle is priced so low or should I assume that the car is priced where it is because it has been sitting on the lot for some time? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will walk away from this vehicle. I was the stupid one in the first place from going to a LS, to a Jetta, and now wanting to go back to a Lexus. I will keep my search open though for another ES or IS (CPO that is).
