Noticed small rip quater inch. Is it covered by warranty

Year? Mileage? Factory warranty? CPO? Any additional coverages (one such coverage is for exactly this)?

That's small enough that you could probably get a 3M leather repair kit and fix it yourself.

2012 es, 14k miles. I dont know how it happened or if it was there for a while and got bigger, i am the only driver, so i am puzzled. I setup sn appointment with dealer. If they say no, can they patch it up so it does not continue to rip? Replacing it would be the best, but i will be surprised if they do it under warranty

honestly, this falls under wear and tear so I doubt they'll do it on the bubble. Unfortunately it's in an area that could very much be user inflicted.

They'll probably be able to repair it, but will charge a premium. Look up the 3M kit I said above, it's cheaper and it works.

I will not get new seat, but if they can patch it up professionally, iy might be worse it. Do u know if dealers can repair, or do they simply offer replace the whole thing? I might make it look more ugly of i fix it myself.

if they were going to replace anything, they'd just put a new seat cover on the lower portion of the seat.

The 3m kit isn't that hard to do, and with such a small area that I wouldn't worry.

Take it to them, see what they say. Perforated leather tends to rip like that right between the holes when heavier loads are placed on the seat.

If they quote you high, DONT have them do it. Look up and call a few upholstery shops in your area and they can probably fix it cheaper.

I had a dog tear the leather in 5 places with sharp claws. They came to the house and did the repair and patched the leather hole pattern and tint color perfectly. Cost was $125.

Thanks. If no warranty, then i will try upholstery shops. Its 1000$ to replace seat cover at the dealer, screw that. I guess i have nothing to lose if i take to the dealer. I am upset because i did not do anything unusual on the seat. I sm 170lb in case you think iam really fat. Will let u know what dealer says

haha, wasn't suggesting that you were fat man. I was just saying in the case of placing heavy objects on it, like the passenger seat or back seat (hell...I'm 6'2" 240lbs...if my seats hold up yours should too)

Like I said, take it in and see if they'll cover it. If they do, perfect. If not, you'll have a number to go by when you call the upholstery shops. This is the procedure I follow with any work that may be questionable as far as warranty etc., take it to them, have them diagnose it (usually for free since they assume you'll have them do the work) then bounce and take it to an indy if I can't do it myself.

off topic. But thank you for posting that info about dr. vinyl. I have two places in the backseat that need attending to 1. cigarette burn in backseat armrest (some people dont even bother to ask before lighting up ). 2. Tear in rear driver-side armrest from someones ring. Ill take your word and try them out and post back here.

UPDATE: had it fixed at the dealer, they contract some company that comes and fixes leather. Was $100, but they did a good job, I can't even see the spot.
