Default Heater question on 2010 ES350?

Hi guy's, Do I really have to push two buttons to get the heater on? I push the auto button then
I have to push the AC button to turn off the AC in order to turn on heater! What's up with that? Am I missing something here? Thanks!

the auto setting automatically engages the AC compressor. It's actually handy in the winter particularly, you'll notice that with the AC on your windows won't fog quite as much. Likewise, when you turn on the front defroster, it automatically engages the AC as well, despite temp setting.

I bought my 2010 new and only pressed the AUTO button and set the temp to 72* and have not touched it since. When it's hot , it's cold and when it's cold , it's hot.

'tis the beauty of the lexus auto climate control

I on the other hand have somewhat of an internal furnace that fluctuates. When it's cold, I run it at 75. When it's hot, I run it at 60. I'm weird like that.

i just use the fan setting button to turn it on in winter and set the temp at 72 works fine as it cycles between cabin and outside air to keep temp
