Default '07 ES350 - best solution for iPhone playing / charging

Guess that they didn't start adding USB ports till the '08's. Is the GTA adapter the best route to get the iPhone integrated in to this car, or do others have better solutions for playing / charging? I'm going to go out on a limb and assume there is no Bluetooth streaming on this model.

Also, where are you guys placing your iPhone holders on the car in order to use it's features best from the driver's seat? I have an awesome mount that I used in my last car that actually mounted to the CD player slot (without damaging the CD player!), and have it on my ES350 but it seems a bit low. Is the vent mount the way to go on these?

The Lexus dealer installed a Vaistech controller on my 07 right after I bought it. Best aftermarket product I've ever spent money on. It's used every day, I hardly ever listen to FM anymore. I have an ipod classic that stays in the car. It's big enough to hold all my music with room to spare. The Vais integrates with the radio, so i can control the ipod with the steering wheel or the stereo's buttons. The ipod never comes out of the armrest unless I'm adding a song. With my unit from 07-it will work the same exact way with an iPhone4 but it wont charge it. Now thats with my unit from 07, probably will with a newer unit. Also you can't use the controls on the iPod or phone while the unit is connected to it, again might now work with a 2012 unit. If I had it to do over again I would have had the connecter in the glove box instead of the armrest. Originally I thought I would be taking the iPod out with me( remember 07 pre iPhone days) so I could use it at home. So my connector is in the armrest. Not a big deal, but I just have to remeber to remove it when the car is getting serviced or I use valet parking. If I had it in the glove box it could be locked up.

Oh yeah and the best part of the VAIS unit is it got rid of that rid of the warning screen on the navigation screen that comes on every time you start the car! Now it stays on for 5 sec then goes to the map. I know they did that later on with navigation dvd updates, i"ve just never updated mine.

Default My solution for Ipod

I installed am ipod adapter myself. I used the pictures posted by Dreyfus and, while it was a bit scary, it was easy. Please note that I am a retired computer analyst Not a mechanic. It keeps my Nano recharged and all of the steering wheel buttons work fine with the ipod.

look here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...-i-did-it.html

Here are the head removal steps. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...val-steps.html

PLease do not worry too much when you see these pics. These steps are easy. Just be careful and go slowly.
I did this in about an hour.
