Default Just purchased 2009 ES 350

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and just bought a used 2009 ES 350 with 35K miles. It has every option minus the NAV and Levinson sound system. I paid $25,800 OTD. Did I do OK?

We have has a 2004 GX470 since new and it's still going strong. I needed a daily driver so I thought Id stick with a Lexus. Let me know how I did.

I have been looking for about a week going to multiple dealers here and checking on eBay and Craigslist. Seems like everyone was asking $26-27K for the same car. Some were asking more.

Finally negotiated with this dealer in Nashville. I got him down to $24,200 before taxes tags, and other fees, which drove the final price to $26,400. I made him a finally offer OTD at $25,800 and he took it. Now I have to drive to Nashville Thursday to pick it up.

The next thing I have to decide on is purchasing an extended warranty. I can get a 36/60K, bumper to bumper, warranty for $1500. Thoughts???

If you bought Certified,I probably wouldn't go for an extended warranty.
You can get a heavy discounted 7/100 Lexus Platinum from a Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield.
There's a couple of others that sell discounted Lexus/Toyota Platinum warranties.
In my area '09 NAV ES350's with lower miles go for that around that asking $27K number.

Ditto for shopping the Lexus Platinum Warranty online. I would try for a longer period if available.

I didn't buy Certified, so the factory warranty goes out 1/13. I was advised that if I buy the extended warranty before I hit 36K then the rates will be considerably less.

Edit....I called Troy and he quote $1490 for the 7/70000 warranty.

Not Certified.
I'd buy a warranty.

You can call these guys for a quote on a Lexus Platinum warranty. No sales tax if you buy out of state.

The extended warranty I looked at previously was a GMPP (General Motors Protection Plan). I've bought this type of extended warranty before on my corvettes and it was a full coverage, no deductible warranty.

I wonder how this differs from the Lexus Platinum?

My opinion is you're always better with a warranty directly from the manufacturer.
Less hassles.
In this case, you should definitely get a Lexus extended warranty.

How it worked when I bought one in the past from Troy.
You call and get the quote. If you like the number, you give him a credit card and you receive the papers from Troy in a few days and the booklet from Toyota follows in about 10 days-two weeks.
I guess you can send a check or MO.

I'm thinking about one for my wife's ES. Lexus is sure proud about their warranty! I just purchased a discounted, zero deductable, 6 yr/120,000 for a new Honda Odyssey with the commercial use (sales calls) service upgrade for $1,140. ($990 for regular use)

I know the service writer at our local Lexus dealer, and he stated that there are far fewer hassles going with the Lexus Platinum warranty compared to a GMPP. Looking at them both side by side, they look similar with what they offer, except for a few small details, and the GMPP actually offers more mileage coverage than the Lexus. Lexus 7 year/100,000 warranty is actually 3 years/50,000 after the factory warranty expires, and the cost is $1490. The GMPP is 36/54,000 and the cost is $1470.

So the GMPP gives you 4,000 extra miles and $20 less.

Welcome to the club. With 35k miles and an OTD price of $25.8, I think you did very well. Congrats on your purchase. You'll love it!!

Thank you!!!

Driving to Nashville to pick it up. Really, the only negative about the car that I know of is that it only comes with one remote/smart key. I called my friend at the Lexus dealership and he quoted $275 for another one. He also said if I find a used remote, he can reprogram it for $55, and he could cut a blank key for another $25.

I'm sure there are threads regarding smart key replacements. I'll have to do a search, but I need an extra key for my peace of mind.
