headlight out but now back on
just got a fix it ticket for a head light that was out but the next day it works fine
any ideas what might be going on? I am concerned it will stop working again and/or be an intermittent problem

Most likely need a new bulb.
The way HID bulbs work is as they approach their end of life - they will go out randomly. IIRC it has to do with the way HIDs work, as they age - they require more current to light up and temperature also plays a role I believe.
With an old / marginal bulb - as the bulb gets hotter, it will require more current than the ballast can provide and the bulb will go out. As the bulb cools off, it will start working again.
Do a search and you'll find a lot of threads here talking about exactly the same problem you are and the solution has almost always been to replace the bulb.
