Default is the es line seen as feminine?

I am a lexus enthusiast. I don't have an es, I have a perfect 05 ls430, and thinking of buying an es for a winter car. some people have told me that the car is more geared tward woman, is this true? I don't see it, but I don't usually catch on to stuff like this.

its ok if you guys don't agree, i am looking for serious opinions. who does own the most of these. Yes I have been noticing people here driving the es line, but i don't want to comment on what i have seen, because i want your honest opinion. I may tell at a later date what i have seen in the past 24 hours

Where I am (west coast of Canada) and where Lexus sells a lot of ES 350s the majority of drivers are middle to old age men (like me) and older woman. The younger women here buy (or are given by their hubby) the IS250 AWD and (along with the IS250) is considered the entry level Lexus. Younger to middle age men seem to go for the IS350. When I bought my ES last summer I asked the salesman what was the dealer's best seller........the ES by far, was his answer.

I think lots of ES sales are to folks who simply want a bit more luxury and a smoother ride than a Camry.

OTOH, our '08 is the Moon Shell Mica color, which is distinctly pink. It was owned by an older woman before us, and my wife LOVES it. Actually, I don't mind the color, but then I'm in my mid-60s too, so color doesn't matter much to me any more. We live in Western Colorado, where most of the supposed luxury cars (Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, BMW, Mercedes) I see on the street are almost all owned by older folks.

One thing for sure: the ES is not what you would call masculine, macho or even a performance car. It's just a comfortable cruiser.

I agree with grump and Rick's assessments. The ES350 is purchased new primarily by older buyers. Last I heard the average age was around 60. Whether it's men or women who knows, but my guess is in a lot of cases older couples probably agree on the purchase. Whether the styling is feminine or masculine is anybody's guess. Beauty (or gender leanings) is in the eye of the beholder.

I think (in my own mind) that the rear spoiler kind of mans up the car.

My observation too! At 22, i'd love an ES350 - don't care what people say, you can make them look great!

I am 43 and love my ES350! I got exactly what I needed; a family car that, when I am by myself, has enough performance to make me smile, the kids in the back can watch DVDs on long trips, the ride and cabin are smooth and luxurious, and I think it looks great too. I haven't done any changing of the looks of the car, stock wheels and everything but I love it. I would not call it a "chick car". Most women I see driving high end cars stick to the smaller Mercedes, BMWs or Acuras. Just my two cents, for what it's worth.

I wouldn't say it's a chick car. I will say that it doesn't have the sporty performance that many younger men look for in a car and many women don't. But many men like myself will choose value, comfort, and luxury over performance anyday.

+1! Good comment! We got exactly what we wanted too and I also doubt that I will make any changes to the looks of the car. It's fine as it is.

I think most luxury cars are seen as feminine. Luxury cars are all about being soft and comfortable. The engines are the only masculine thing about a luxury car. 60% of the ES350's I see on my daily commute are driven by women.

While I definitely don't see the ES as a chick car, a la a porshe boxster or a vw beetle, I wouldn't mind the new Es having a more muscular look.
