Default New Owner - how did I do on price?

It is obviously a little too late now, but I just picked up a "new" 2011 ES350 Smoky Granite Mica. It was a Demo car, so it actually has 8033 miles on it already, but has never been titled so they consider it "new".

The car seems to have a lot of features minus the Ultra Luxury package, Adaptive Cruise Control and I'm assuming the Pre-Collision. It has Navi, Heated/Cooled seats, Park Assist, Rear Sunshade, Spoiler, (and standard stuff like the Trunk Mat, Cargo Net, Wheel Locks).

They didn't have the original Window sticker (they're still looking for it) so I'm not entirely sure on some of the options it has - like I can't tell if I have the Mark Levinson sound system - but I believe I only have the "Premium" sound system. Is there an easy way to tell?

Anyway - so for this demo unit, I paid $34,600 before Tax and Tags. I thought for a low mileage car, this was a pretty good deal. Also because the car is "new" the factory warranty supposedly starts as if the 8033 miles aren't there.

Is that a decent price ?

Also, I got the 8 year / 75k mile extended warranty for $2000. Not sure if that was a rip-off or not either

To me price seems decent - congrats on the car.

If you have the ML stereo, it'll say "Mark Levinson" near the CD slot.

I think you did well. I paid about $38,000 for a new 2011 after rebates and dealer discount. My MSRP was about $43,500.

Congratulations and welcome to Club Lexus. Your price seems good - keep trying for the window sticker, I'm sure they can get one for you.

You have an extended warranty but I would verify what you have as the manufacturer's warranty. I think they are all 4 years or 50,000 miles including any demo miles even though the car wasn't registered. You may have 4 years from date of sale but I don't think the mileage changes on a demo.

Thanks! This is my first new car since my 2003 Acura TL-S, so there are so many new features it is pretty astounding. I actually test drove the new TL, and I liked the way it drove but imho after driving the ES the interior didn't seem to be made nearly as well.

Thanks! They did say they were looking for the window sticker, and they owe me a second key too.

I actually asked about the factory warranty, and the Sales Manager double checked and he claimed that the mileage started as if the car had no miles on it.

There's a difference between using the factory warranty and the extended warranty right? I may have to go back and ask to get it in writing because they told me since I bought the extended warranty I didn't need anything in writing about the factory warranty.

I think when the service manager looks up your VIN, it shows up that your car is covered under the Platinum Extended Warranty to x number of months / miles. Sort of takes the place of the factory warranty period - your completely covered up to the specified miles / time.

Yeah - I guess Lexus works differently from Acura. My previous car was an Acura TL and with Acura, the extended warranty is treated differently from a factory warranty and anytime you come in with a problem someone has to come out and evaluate whether or not they want to pay for it. The folks coming out to evaluate it are trained to try to deny all claims so they can make a profit.

But - the dealer just said that the extended warranty is treated exactly like the factory warranty for Lexus. So I'm guessing it works differently.

I talked to the dealer today and they confirmed what others have been saying, that the mileage still applies for the warranty, but the 5 years / 7 year and 8 year extended warranty is from the day I bought the car.

paid $39K for exact same car (same features), but its 2012 ES and it had only 24 miles.

I think you should have spent 4K and gotten brand new one, and of 2012 year.

Congrats on the new to you car. You already bought it and are happy so thats all that really matters.

I bought my 2011 sounds like the same package as yours off the showroom floor with 7 miles big red bow and all Dec 16th for 37,400 . The 100K Lexus warranty was another 1800.

I don't have the window sticker in front of me, want to say it's just shy of 43K.

My two hour commute to work a few days a week even with the holiday break turned over 2K miles already.
