2010 CPO carpet color match floor mat color?
I purchased my first Lexus this past weekend. It's a 2010 CPO with Parchment interior. Everything seems to be fine with car and I really enjoy it many features. When I test drove the car the floor mats were paper but then I took delivery it had dark gray Lexus floor mats. The mis-matched colors caught me off guard and I asked the salesman why they didn't match. He indicated that Lexus had been doing that for the last couple of years and their intent was to go with a color that did not show dirt as bad. I'm not sure I buy that and he is offering to replace them with matching mats. Is this normal? Am I old school in thinking the floor mat color should match the carpet?
Thanks,
Steve

Your sales rep is correct regarding the darker color floor mats.
They do hide the dirt MUCH better than tan or light gray, and IMO the contrast looks nice too. The dark gray is supposed to match the top of the dash and door trim etc.
It's good that he is willing to change them for you if you want.

My '10 came with the same. I ordered some OEM Cashmere off Ebay........ They show a lot of marks. I'll next try the Brown PT548-33090-01 or Brown PT206-33090-05 both for '09-'10 not sure of the difference...maybe one is pre-recall? The Floormat listing is dated Sept 29, 2009
The winter Weathertech mats in tan look nice vs the black mats I have in another tan interior vehicle.

They might not blend in well with the floor carpeting - but they'll stay looking nice for a while.
My 2007 ES had matching light grey ("ash?") mats and they were filthy/gross. I got the car used.
My 2008 ES that replaced the crashed 2007 came with the factory all-weather mats in dark gray (new car has light gray interior also). I'm not crazy about how it looks inside the car, but at least they'll stay nice.
My wife's 2011 Highlander with light gray interior also has the dark gray/black factory mats. I got the all-weather ones for that vehicle too since winter is almost here.

My parchment 2011 interior has matching parchment carpet floor mats from the factory. The all weather Lexus floor mats match the trim in that terratone grey / brown color. I use the Exact Mats brand clear mats that fit over the carpeted mats to keep them clean. There is concern that putting mats over the carpeted mats would encourage the clear mats to hit the accelerator and cause the infamous unintended acceleration problems. But. they match up the security holes along with the grabber teeth stop them from moving. Traded the car in with like new original mats. They have a website and the mats match the carpeted ones exactly (hence the name). And as an unintended benefit to those with parchment colored interiors, the mats do yellow somewhat over the years and it blends in with parchment color mats / carpets.

I have the black coco mats with tan flecks. Looks great and very scuff/stain resistant Several of my friends have liked them and ordered them for their cars. Pretty expensive.....about 350$, but very nice looking and durable

Keep your dark gray mats! You will be glad you did. I changed out my light gray ones very quickly. They are impossible to keep clean. I'll send them to you if you want them. Then you can experience it for yourself.

I agree. We have had light-colored mats (grey & beige) in other cars, and not only do they get dirty quickly, they look pretty disgusting when they do. They are also much more difficult to get clean and frequently will have dark spots that are almost impossible to remove. Keep the dark ones!!!

Sounds like good advice. I'll keep the dark ones. I do think I'll invest in some water proof ones for the winter months. Anyone know of a good online source?
Thanks again,
