Default Using 0W-20 Oil '09 E350

According to Car and driver the new Camry V6 :
The only powertrain changes, aimed at improving fuel economy, are subtle: lower-viscosity engine oil (0W-20 versus 5W-30), a transmission-oil warmer to achieve operating temps a little faster, and a higher (numerically lower) final-drive ratio of 3.46:1 versus 3.69:1. The net, according to the EPA, is a gain of 1 mpg in city and highway modes, for a rating of 21/30. We averaged 25 mpg.
Would using this 0W-20 oil in a 2009 ES350 be worth any fuel economy or efficiency gains?

I wouldn't be to concerned with the 0W but would not go down to a 20 weight. You can try it and see how much oil you burn. As to better gas mileage I would think the Camry gets a boost from the gearing change.

0w20 to 5w20, and 0w30 to 5w30 are the only viscosity changes I reccomend. If your engine calls for 5w30, and you want to drop to a 0w30 thats fine, but I would not reccomend dropping a 5w30 to a 0w20.

If the new Camry is using the same carry over engine 2GR-FE V6 as the ES350 and specs 0W-20 synthetic oil. It seems to me that using this oil can potentially help in start-up wear and short trip city driving.

You are right, if, and only IF, they changed absolutely nothing. I doubt a car advertised as "all new" carried over an entire engine from the previous generation. I would bet money that either the rod bearings, oil passeges, oil pump, or SOMETHING to do with the oil system was changed to warrant the change in oil grade. Fact is, neither you nor I have any way of knowing exactly what that change may have been. I have been in this business a long time, and Vehicle Manufacturer's never change something like that "just because". I mean, if you want to take a chance, thats your call, but I stand by my reccomendation that if the engine calls for 5W30, put either that or 0w-30 in it.

If they had changed it mid generation (like between 2008 and 2011) then yes, its a safe assumption. However, in this case, well...its not my engine. Again, not saying your wrong, simply voicing my professional opinion.
