The ES is too QUIET

You could try windows down AND sound system turned up high for more sound/noise. That would help to get rid of that pesky quietness.

Interesting thread, I think this is first time I have actually seen someone complain about how quiet the ES is. Your mom complained also?. Okay, I take it that this is not a joke. What kind of vehicle did you have before? People buy the ES for it's comfort level and yes, because how quiet it is. I don't think you will find the people at Lexus amused. Don't expect them to offer any help. I would follow the suggestions above, modify the exhaust or get some very high mileage tires, that way you could at least hear road noise. Good luck.

Not sure if one is available - but I think the best way to get a little sound from a car is a cold air intake.
With an exhaust swap you hear that all the time - and it could possible drone at highway speeds. Had that happen to me on a previous car and my wife (then girlfriend) would get headaches from it.
A cold air intake will give you some volume when you stomp on the gas but all other times is hardly noticable.
This is also something that can easily be undone.
I, too, am puzzled at your choice in cars if this one is too quiet. This is one of the main reasons people buy a Lexus. It's like buying a Ford F350 and saying it sits too high.

Worlds apart - actually like 4 cars ago - 1996 T-bird w/ the 4.6L V8. I made my own cold air intake utilzing a K&N cone filter, and some 4" PVC. Sanded down all the mold marks and painted it - looked like something someone would pay big $$ for. Also had a cat-back exhaust, and fitted the dual piston brake calipers from a Mustang GT on it. Custom sound system too.
Fun car for the time (owned from '97-02) but looking back it was a dog and handled like a boat. People on here think the ES is a "boat"... they obviously didn't grow up in the 80s when the family owned a full sized American car.

You mean the 335i and E320 is louder than the Lexus, both are really nice cars for sure. I can see maybe the 335i, being maybe nosier, you hear more road noise from the 335 as compared to the E320. Umm, I didn't realize that. I guess the 350 does put you in a cocoon....Go Lexus....

Noisier ES 350
Strange thread indeed. If I wanted noise, I would have bought an Infiniti G37. I spend about 2 hours a day in the car, and the quiet is very welcome. One of the reasons I bought this car over others, particularly the Infiniti. Doesn't handle like the Infiniti or BMW but I knew that going in.
