Default ES 350 Ride deteriorating over time

I have test driven a new 2010 and a 2007.

The ride on the 2007, with 40k miles on it, seems much harder than the 2010. Is this just due to the shocks wearing out?

Or does it have something to do with the year? Any particular year than is the best or softest ride?

I am looking for a comfortable ride that approaches the LS.

I also noticed a little wind noise, from the drivers window, on the 2007, that wasn't there on the 2010. Any comments on wind noise?

May be due to different tires on the cars. Or older tires. The ride on my other cars did get a little harder over time, but not at that low mileage, for me it happens as you get near 100,000 miles. Get the 2010 anyway, there were some problems with th 2007's.

Strut suspension systems get "tired" too, just like shock absorbers. Also, tires, as they wear, get down to the "harder" rubber. When new tires were installed on my '07, the nice ride returned. I remember putting new struts on my '98 Lumina LTZ along with new tires. The ride returned to new but a good cost. Way less expensive than a new car but still pricey.

My 2007 has 34,000 miles on it. I have fairly new tires on it. It rides like new. Very smooth and quiet.

When I got my 2010 ES I noticed right away that it was much quieter and smoother than my 2007 ever was. I think Lexus quietly made some improvements to the model. At 12K miles it still rides great.

I noticed the difference between my '07 and '10 too. Just an overall more refined feel. I agree that Lexus made some positive changes during the model years.

Default ride getting harder - what about 2008-9

Is there anyone who can compare a 2008 or 2009 ride quality over time.

No one answered what part was changed from 2007 to 2010?

The outside mirrors were redesigned after 07 to reduce wind noise. My 08 has 17k and runs like new. Two weeks ago I did notice a change and they found a rear shock had lost all its fluid. It was replaced under warranty.

I don't recall reading anything specific about changes in this area from year to year. They were probably individual, behind the scene revisions and when added together made the improvements.

Why don't you just get an LS if that is what you want? You can get a nice low mileage 07 LS for the same price as a new 10 ES.

Even diamonds deteriorate over time. Expect your car to do so too
