Default ES350 performance?

Ciao everyone! I just bought a 2010, obsidian black on black int, es350. i was wondering if anyone makes a intake kit for the motor in this car yet? I sold my 2008 IS350 last year and am kicking my self in the *** now, after telling my wife on friday i was going to get another one she made me get the es...i love it but would like to chip it, intake or anything to get a few extra ponies out of this car. Also i want to put on the 5 star style 2009/2010 GS350/430 wheels on this car, does anyone know where to locate some good used ones, or a wheel store not charging outragious prices for these?

Grazie/Thank you for all of your replies!

you bought a Boulevard Cruiser not a sports car.
If you wanted performance you should have gotten the IS350 or ISF

You seem to be confused and think you have purchased an ISF? The ES is not a sports sedan. Its a cushy luxury car. What exactly is chipping the car going to do? Waste a boatload of money? Yes. Make it handle any better? No. Make it able to take turns at 100 mph? No. Beat that Corvette at the stoplight? No, to that also.
What you should be doing is installing a clear shield on the butter soft black paint to protect it and getting yourself a very good professional detailer, so the car doesn't look like a swirly mess.

The ES350 gets from 0 to 60 MPH almost a full 2 seconds slower than the IS350 (6.9 versus 4.9). The power or even power to weight ratio hardly accounts for the bulk of this difference. It's largely a function of the gearing in the IS350.

Unfortunately, you're not going to do anything to get even close to that level for your ES350.

Convince your wife to trade up to the IS-F, if that's an option.

^^^^Lexus advertises the ES-350 at 6.8 Sec. and the IS-350 at 5.6 Sec. There's a guy on you tube who claims 4.9 sec, with a windshield mounted electronic gadget. For comparison the IS-F is advertised at 4.6 Sec., 0-60.

Lexus has always been oddly conservative with a number of their performance figures, particularly with the IS350. For example, they stated 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds for the IS350 for many years, but for this year they arbitrarily knocked that estimate down to 5.3 seconds, actually (on one of the official Lexus releases, the change is not yet updated on lexus.com, however). This is despite the fact that no change whatsoever was made to the IS350's engine.

Going to an independent source, Road and Track cited the IS350 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds with the 1/4 mile coming in at 13.5 @ 103 MPH

For comparison, Road and Track cites the IS-F 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds with the 1/4 mile in 12.8 seconds @ 113.3 MPH

.5 seconds faster to 60, but a whopping .7 seconds faster in the quarter mile, with that difference increasing as one considers higher terminal speeds.

The ISF also blows the doors off the IS350 in the slalom and skidpad, but that's to be expected.

What's generally not expected is the fact that down low the IS350 can be surprisingly comparable to the ISF, particularly 0 to 40 MPH acceleration (ISF gets to 40 in 2.5 seconds, IS350 gets to 40 in 2.7 seconds, according to R&T)

Anyways, as stated before, the point is the ES350 can't hold a candle to either of these cars, unfortunately, despite the deceptive "350" moniker which might lead one to expect similar performance to the IS"350"

0-60 times always very by source and it does seem that Lexus is conservative when showing 0-60 times. C&D had the ES350 at 6.2 seconds and CR magazine did 6.4.

Comparing the IS and ES is apples and oranges in size (especially back seat!), performance, ride handling etc. Two different vehicles and in a lot of cases two different buyers.

You pretty much have to use whatever Camry parts that will crossover to mod your ES.

I was interested in trying the Weapon R intake some time ago until I did some further reading and found it's only a short ram intake and not a cold air intake like the kit available on the IS. With the short ram you'd be sucking in hot engine bay air, I live in South Texas so that's an issue for me. I guess if you're way up North it might be worth a try, at least it would improve the engine sound.
