Thanks Dave, very interesting.I haven't seen anything on a change to synthetic.I like using synthetics and may just stay with Toyota branded oil now.
The 5w20 is said to be synthetic but up till now not the 5w30.Assuming we still have a 5w30 weight recommendation.I like the heavier 5w30.
Toyota regular oil is a Exxon-Mobil product.Probably now Mobil 1 which on the bob is the oil guy forum is said to work well with Toyota engines.

The current vsicosity specification is 5W30. I have been using Mobil One 5W30 since day one and there is still dieseling when cold to this date / 32,000 miles, changng the oil every three - four months / 5,000 miles (changed by time except for 1 time when miles exceeded the time). Are they now recommending 5W20 synthetic oil (as used / specified viscosity in our '07 Hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee)? Jeep is adamant in using
5W20 oil versus 5W30 oil in the Hemi engines.

I'm not a fan of Mobil 1.I like Amsoil and/or German Castrol.I have read that mobil 1 works well with Toyota engines, though.
I would stay with the 5w30 over a 5w20.Just feel better with a bit thicker oil rather than maybe get a tenth or two better MPG number.
I still can find anything on 2010 ES having synthetic oil factory fill that Dave's shop foreman mentioned.

Been using Mobil 1 since the '90s with no problems. Used to use (remember this one) Arco Graphite oil.

It went in black as coal and came out black as coal. Used it in my '79 Mercury Cougar and 1980 Lincoln Town Car / Continental.

Re. my 2010 ES - I have to say that I believe the car is noticeably quieter than my 20007. I thought at first it might just be new car quietness but after about 500 miles I do think the car is much quieter. I would say that without any fanfare Lexus has added some insulation. Maybe the smaller mirorrs help a little.

And the turn signal switch feel is more LS like then my 2007 - very solid and quiet.

Default Satin Cashmere with Black Interior (Picture)

Picked up new Satin Cashmere with Black Interior on Monday. Great colors especially with the glass rood and upgraded leather and double stitiching.
