Nothing drastically different, maybe a small bump in power, maybe more wood somewhere. I have not heard of any hybrid coming.

The Camry has moved to shorter refresh/revision cycles. Toyota created new technology where the Camry got refreshed in 4.5 years and not 5. You might say "thats only 6 months" but its such a huge deal when creating something as complicated as a new car. It allowed Toyota to have a 2 new Camrys while Honda only refreshed their old last gen Accord.

The ES/Camry relationship will continue to grow apart as Lexus moves further away from its parent company.
My original post centered around the Camry and ES350 debuting at the same time (early 2006 as 2007's), therefor was expecting the refresh to also be at the same time. But the freshened Camry is now out, and we haven't even seen a single shot of the ES. This is what I thought was odd, as the two have usually gone hand in hand with updates and redesigns.
Further, it would have made more sales sense for Lexus to add the 2010 ES early in the 2009 model year, since it's original debut was in early 2006. Technically, the car has already been out for three year's time now. Waiting until later this year would push the car to 3.5 model years old- a long time by today's trends without a single change.
As far as the Camry and ES splitting further apart, I have not heard that at all. Do you have a source I can research?

Simple... like most auto retailers, Lexus is struggling right now for every sale it can get. Aging models do not bring customers into showrooms. I am thinking in interest of Lexus's bottom line and market share.

Buick is giving the market their version of a refreshed ES350 in the 2010 Lacrosse. From the pictures, it does look appealing. All wheel drive, XM radio, remote start, 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty. Just hope GM keeps it all together in the next few months.

That last sentence is the key. If you're buying a GM product now, you've gotta believe that the assemblers are less than enthusiastic about what they're doing these days.

The ES is not an enthusiast car, we rarely get any spyshots on it. There is no interest (though it sells very well). The info on the Camry/ES split is something a few of us have "heard" in the hallways. No links. The car debuted in 2007, its 2009 and the 2010 will debut soon with the changes.

2ES 92-94, refresh for 95-96
3ES 97-99, refresh for 00-01
4ES 02-04, refresh for 05-06
5ES 07-09, refresh for 10-11

Nothing has changed.

The past 2 generations of the ES 5 year cycle has seen a powertrain or engine change during the 3rd year and a design refresh during the 4th year. Nothing changed for the 3rd year this generation, but the typical design refresh is expected in 2010.

Don't expect a major or minor ES update until 2011...That's buzz I'm hearing from the sales consultants. I think Lexus HS will probably fill the slack in the meantime....IMO

Please don't ever ever ever believe anything any salesperson says. They are all trained to stick together and sell the current model. Giving away that it's going to be redone in a few months cuts into sales. It's their job. It's their paycheck. It's their livelihood. They will say and do anything to maintain sales. You will learn more truths from the internet than from any dealership.
