Default No track title/artist information

I have a 2007 ES350.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to get my cd's that were purchased from the store to display the cd titles on the navigation screen.
I have tried several times and haven't had any luck.
I was only able to get one to work.

Please help.

Wow. I'm surprised even one disc worked. The standard CD audio disc doesn't have information about titles, artists etc. The reason you can get the information on your computer is that itunes, MS media player etc send the disc's serial number to an online database to retrieve this information.

Now I think there are discs out there that do contain this information but they use a different format and are not compatible with older players. Hence not as popular. If you want more information rip your CDs to mp3 format and create yourself an mp3 CD. The mp3 file format allows for tags to contain the information you want and will be displayed by the radio. You can also cram multiple CDs onto one disc since mp3s are compressed.

jkayca,

Thanks for the sharing information. I have a new 09 ES and I was having the same concern. I burned a few CDs from Media player and none of the CD titles displayed on the navigation screen. So if I burn my CDs in mp3 format from the media player I'll see the title on he screen? I'm thinking about burning a some CDs on my mp3 player and hooking that up to the mp3 port in the car......that should work right?

Audio CDs are able to store album information (e.g. song name, album name, and artist) in CD-TEXT. Audio CDs with CD-TEXT are standards-compliant and will work with any CD player. The CD player in the ES350 is capable of displaying CD-TEXT if it is present.

You can create audio CDs with CD-TEXT if you use an audio CD creator that supports it (like Nero).

Ah that what the format is called. Still, if you are going to burn new CDs I would go to MP3s. If the title, track, artist etc information show up when you rip the CD then the MP3s will have this information. At least I don't know of any ripper that doesn't do this. It would be kind of lame if it didn't.

Lexpaul, I'm not sure you will see the information with your own MP3 player. It depends on how it is hooked up. If you are using the standard aux. audio jack then no. This kind of connection is for audio only. No digital information is passed. There are 3rd party products out there to do what you want to do though. The most popular being an iPod adapter which can be installed into your radio. This provides a digital connection to your iPod from from you car's radio. Of course it only works if you have an iPod. I'm not sure what MP3 player you have.

jkayca and kreativ,
Thanks for info. I think I'll try going with Nero first and see how that works and then try the mp3 route. Cheers!!
