Anyone know anything about Bridgestone Potenzas? Can get 4 mounted, out the door for under $600. I can get the Mich energys for $815 out the door...both on these buy 3, get one free special.

Are the Mich's worth the extra $200?

MD - Potenza's are high performance tires. No first hand knowledge (except on my S2000 - they stick like glue!), but I would be concerned about ride and noise. When I put Yokohama AVS ES100 tires on mine I under-estimated how distracting the noise factor would be.

I based my tire decision on the fact that they are a Tire Rack best seller, there are hundreds of tire reviews on there and it seemed to fit the bill nicely.

For what the generals cost its worth the chance, as for ride quality- sure the car rides nice if you like drifting into the left lane all the time, and a little more road noise might cancel out the wind noise that always comes in the car from day one.

Had the Potenzas on my IS300- Performed well, but wore quicker than expected. Just got a set of Yokohamas off of TireRack (for about $600 total, with mount/balance). The ride quality is fine, we will see if they wear better than the stock Michelins did.

I had the tires mounted today, so far the ride feels a little more sure footed, car feels like its planted to the road better and not as floaty.

Have not highway driven the car yet, cant wait to see if it still drifts out of the lane or not.

Thanks for all of your input...I think I will stick with the OEM Mich's. $815 out the door, mounted, ain't bad.

Yeah, well that is with tax and mounting/balancing.

I know they are not the longest lasting tire and I know you have had issues with them. But, they have done me good. The car will be gone before these wear out. My biggest concern was to buy cheaper tires and to hear road noise.

At 35K miles today, and could have driven the old set a few more thousand. But, with the snow season coming, did not want to take any chances.

Exactly. For the Lexus ride, those soft tires are the way to go.

Default Decision on Tires

Decided to buy Toyo Versado - they have generated a lot of good reviews. Toyo's are good for about 40K miles at least twice what I got with Bridgestones.
Most tire dealers say they are a good compromise between handling, soft ride and durability. Best price here in Florida is $740 out the door with an alignment check. Incidentally, Lexus wanted $225 per tire for the lousy Bridgestones plus $39.95 per tire to balance and mount. Price with tax for 4 tires was $1100!

Got mine replaced as well. I stick with the original Michelin mxv4which serves me well for 40k miles. Total cost is $720+tax from Costco, plus life time tire rotation and warranty.

After logging some miles with my tires I am extremely happy with them.
The car feels like its connected to the road a little better, it feels a little less light like it seemed to feel on its original tires.

And almost all the pulling to the left while driving in the left lane is gone!!!

It should be noted that the Generals are not good snow tires, we dont drive this vehicle in the snow so its not a big deal for us, they do carry a M+S rating but they should not be chosen if you have to drive in deep snow.

The fact that the car does not pull as much would have made me pay twice as much for the tires. If I were others I would seriously consider NOT putting OEM tires back on the vehicle, obviously they dont agree with the car that it makes the car drift to the side of the road depending on the crown in the road.

It should also be noted that Lexus already tried a aligment correction, I just gave up on complaining about the pull, when the new tires were mounted I did not get a alighment.

Default Got new tires

Finally bought the Toyo Versado tires replacing the Bridgestone Turanza after 22000 miles. The Bridgestones were very worn on the inside edge ( a sign of excessive toe out) so I had to have the car aligned as well. It is funny that Lexus never found the mis -alignement nor the excessive tire wear. Versados are doing very well. Much better handling, ride and quietness a little better. Tire dealer recommends 35 lbs and they seem to ride as well as Bridgestones at 30 lbs. Will give update as they age.
