Is the automatic platinum warranty upgrade a myth?
Hello all,
My question is as above. I called Lexus corporate this am to discuss how I could go about getting the information on the automatic platinum upgrade since I bought a transmission buy back vehicle (without them telling me it was a buy back due to transmission problems at the time of purchase!!!). I was told this am that perk or benefit never existed and is not a policy that they ever had. I purchased an 2007 ES 350 a little over 2 years ago.
So my question is did anyone actually ever receive that automatic extension and if so how would I go about getting it considering Lexus corporate says it does not exist??
Thanks a lot,
Coleco

I got the Platinum warranty after a lot of trips to the dealer and a replacement tranny that still required a lot of tuning before it was right. I even got some G-Spyder wheels thrown in as part of the settlement. I would not call it an automatic deal, probably issued on a case by case basis. I would guess it would be tough for you to get that deal because technically you bought a used ES.

Mine got upgraded automatically by Corporate Lexus back in the summer of 2006 when they discovered tranny flare. After tranny was replaced and new one exhibited the same problem, I went through buyback (into GS350). I remember someone mentioning to me that Platinum warranty was voided after my buyback which means the next "lucky" sucker wouldn't get it. Original warranty upgrade was assigned to a person, not VIN of the vehicle. If your dealer is not willing to help you, try contacting Corporate Lexus directly.

Geez, after reading this post, I thought I logged into a General Motors forum in error. But, no.....I am disappointed to see I am in the Lexus forum. What **** poor service.
