Default Illuminated Door Sill Plates

Didnt see them on my 07 now I picked up the 08 tonight and still did not see them. Funny, they are available for every other Lexus model. GO figure!!!

I just added them to my IS and MY old RX had them on every door. What gives!!

I would like to know if you feel any difference between your 07 and 08? Tranny, overall quality, etc?

As to the door sills, I hear ya. I guess Lexus has to cut it somewhere, or else all models will be too similar.

I wish they didn't cut it. I don't get why they would leave it out. If anything, it would help differentiate the ES from the Camry. That's prolly the only dealer installed accessory I'd buy from the dealer.

Well there is a reason why the ES is Lexus' lowest-priced model...

Well thats news to me. I guess I got ripped off when I paid alot more for my ES then my IS. You cannot compare a midsize to a barely passable sub-compact/compact car.

I wouldn't say that, the ES UL is priced (MSRP) at ~45K, that's reaching into GS350 territory. Illuminated door sills could at least be offered at this point I'd suppose.

Maybe available in the mid-cycle refresh for the 2010 model??

Whoops, my bad...forgot all about the IS 250, although quite frankly I don't even know why Lexus even bothered with such a model. Anyone remember back when Lexus offered the ES 250 alongside the ES 300 when it was first introduced? Can't remember? Well that goes to show you how long the ES 250 lasted...

Notwithstanding my faux pas regarding Lexus' least-expensive model, I think it's a bit unfair to compare the pricing of a UL-equipped ES 350 (essentially, the most-expensive ES 350 trim) to that of a non-top of the line GS 350. In any case, put it this way--if Lexus chose to cut back a bit on the amount of wood paneling used in the ES 350 (note the lack of wood paneling in the glove box area, compared to that found in the ES 330), it would not be surprising to see them not add factory-installed illuminated door sills--at least not without raising the price of the vehicle itself. GM (and probably the other domestic auto companies) isn't the only company that knows about decontenting (i.e., not including features that used to be present in previous-gen models) within a product line in order to maximize profit...

You should see em all around you. In Cali, there are PLENTY of people who are very badge conscious. The $30,000 mark seems to be the current break point. Offer a car just under $30,000 and you can pull a lot people who will stretch in order to get a name badge like Lexus or BMW or Acura. IS250 has a nice low price. People who don't care about performance or anything like that see it as the cheapest way to get into a Lexus. I know lots of people who either got the base IS250 or saw the low base price as an opportunity to load up on options like navi.

Remember the Porsche 944 and the entry levl POS 924? The dumbest marketing tool ever and they hurt the brand back then. I owned the 944 and that was a Porsche. I laughed at the 924. I rather have owned a Yugo.

A IS250 is still a Lexus. The build quality is spot on.
