Default Question about the wood and leather

Hi all..

I have a question about the wood.. Is it a fake wood or it's a real wood?? At first, i thought it's a fake (plastic) wood because of the ash tray edge.... Any one know for sure??

Another question... My car has the UL package... It "should" have the Perforated semi-aniline leather-trimmed interior as standard.. Ok. I compare it to the 2008 LS460 WITHOUT semi-aniline leather... The leather in the LS is softer and much nicer... I thought the leather is the same in both cars...

My question is.. How can i tell if the leather is semi-aniline leather or not WITHOUT looking for the options of the car??

The wood is real, hand picked to match.

The analine leather is supposed to be standard on the UL version. Softest leather I have touched in a car.

Compare the leather in an non-UL ES350. You'll see that your leather is softer. I have a non-UL. My friend has a UL. His leather is softer to the touch.

My leather felt the same as a LS I checked out. They weren't side by side tho, but it felt about the same. In any case, it's a heck of a lot softer than the regular ES leather.

erm... standard leather is fake..... im quite sure of it... as far as wood... wouldnt be too sure if it's real or not.. wouldnt be surprised if it was fake.... it'd be a really good fake wood if it was fake...

Regular leather is real. It's just not soft. Just check out a furniture store. There are all sorts of levels and finishes of leather. The fake stuff is not that good yet. Best I've ever seen was the stuff on my old BMW, which could fool you in some places but not in others.

The wood is more fake looking to me than the regular leather. But Lexus makes a BIG deal about how it's real and serial number matched for each car so all the pieces blend together.

I would assume it is a thin veneer formed over a solid core substrate.

as far as i know, all lexus cars have real wood and real leather.

I doubted the ES at first. I mean the cup holder fold up lid looks really fake. almost just like orange-ish reddish paint. iono

If it's real wood, it's a veneer over plastic. I used a J tool to pop the center console "wood" off to access the radio and clearly the underside was plastic, even the clips were the same color and had a wood grain look to them.

Can you show a picture of this? I'm interested what it looks like and not really willing to tear my seat out to find out.

thanks

The wood is finished with polyester laminate, which to the underinformed may look like plastic. Also, on my UL, the leather is the same quality as on my brothers LS460L.

I also hate to burst anyones bubbles, but these are the facts.
