Seat Coolers

They're really not seat coolers.....they're seat ventilators.
They work OK, but as far as I'm concerned they're not necessary since the air conditioning system brings the car down to a comfortable temperature very quickly.....even when the car is sitting in the sun, with an outside temperature of over 100°.

In my opinion, they are great, but I would like to see them 'blow' a little harder. After the car sits in the sun all day while I am at work, it would be nice if they 'cooled' the black seats down a little quicker. But, I think this is one of those luxuries you will have a hard time doing without in the next car you buy, unless you live somewhere where it does not get hot too much.

For my ears the SeatVentilators are a bit noisy (when turned on, of course) in my '07ES350.
In '04LS430 there is no such noticeable fan noise when turned on.
However, in '07S550(Mercedes), there IS fan noise, similar to ES350's.

I've never noticed any noise with ours, and now and then I drive with the sound system off. I'll have to listen more carefully to see if there is noticeable noise when they're on. IMO they're kind of like the AFS headlights, rear sunshade etc., nice to have, but need to have??

I've noticed the noise too (when no other noise source is present in the car). Not bothersome, but definitely there.

I can't feel a thing even with them all the way up. Not sure what they do. The air conditioning does it all IMHO. I am sure there is a fan of some kind, but let's face it, your body is plugging up the holes. Where will the air go?
If you guys are saying you can put your hand on the seat and feel air blow, then mine is broken.
Not complaining, just don't see the benefit.

I'll offer my personal experiences w/ the seat coolers--turned on w/o the A/C going at the same time, they offer very little--if any--cooling. On a hot day w/ interior temps in the low 100s--if you turn on the seat coolers AND have the A/C going at low temps, it will take awhile (how long depends on how hot it is inside your car, and how quickly the A/C can cool it down) but eventually the seat cooler fans will pick up the circulated cooler air and blow them through the seatback/cushion, to the point that you should be able to feel the cool air hit your back and/or butt...not unless you happen to be wearing thick clothing or something.

They do absolutely nothing and are a complete waste of money.
I really wish Lexus had put whatever money these silly things cost into some more wood over the glove box. The interior on the ES 350 needs to be warmed up. The interior of the ES 300/330 was more elegant and warmer.

I could see how/why one could make that assessment about the seat cooler, but IMHO the seat heater definitely doesn't do "absolutely nothing"--not unless you're wearing layers upon layers of clothing or the nerve endings in your back and/or butt aren't sensitive enough. I will concede that the seat warmers on my Denali work much better (i.e., the seat warmer comes on quickly) than the ones on my ES...
The seat warmers work quite nicely.
