Default Voice activated commands -questions

Hello, I just bought a lexus es 350 2007.
I had a question - each time I press the 'voice command' button, it says 'Please say your command after the beep' and then the 'beep' sounds.
Is there any way for me to disable the 'Please say...' and just go to the beep ? Having to wait each time for her to complete her phrase takes too long.

thanks

Hello, never mind. I figured it out - one needs to switch 'Voice Guidance' to off

Look on the last page of the Nav system 'Quick Guide'. That's the small book, you should have gotten two, one for the Nav and one for the Car.

Thanks for the chart. Where did you find this?

I just got my 2008 ES350 last week.

Does anyone have issues with using voice commands? It is not very accurate even with numbers (tried dialing out with little success). Any known fixes with software/firmware upgrade available? How does one find out if he has the latest version?

Thanks for the responses from everyone.

I had no difficulty learning or mastering the nav and phone systems in my former 2005 Acura RL or 2006 Infiniti M45. But, after three months in my 2007 ES350, I still have a very hard time mastering its voice recognition system.

My voice commands are usually misunderstood even though I carefully enunciate. The echoed numbers returned by the system simply are not those that I vocalize.

My greatest complaint and disatisfaction is the failure of the system to acccept commands while the car is in motion. I am fully capable of driving and changing destinations on the fly. Or, at the worst, my wife in the passenger seat should be able to change a destination.

If I had known of these failures, I would have not purchased the nav system but would have added an inexpensive aftermarket product.

Thse are my only complaints. Everything else in my ES is excellent.

Good luck with your

Default Voice recognition not satisfactory

Even though I only have my new 2008 ES350 for a few days, I am very impressed with the comfortable ride of this car already. The bluetooth feature and the GPS NAV is very impressive.

My only complain is the same as yours, the voice command system is close to useless as it is now. I would rather use the touch screen and the buttons instead. Unfortunately, most of the touch features are locked out when the car is moving.

I seem to have read from someone (probably not in this forum but I do not remember where) that after a firmware version upgrade (version 5.x?), the voice command system has been working perfectly for him.
