Bad mirror unit
My passenger side mirror has stopped working. I can still adjust it horizontally, but the vertical motor isn't working. The dealer looked at it today and said the entire mirror unit needs to be replaced - apparently there are no relpaceable parts. That surprises me as it seems not very cost effective to replace the entire color-coded mirror unit whenever there's a problem.
Oh well. It's on order and due to be installed either Friday or Monday.

Its probably another case of component replacement instead of actual repairs. Oftentimes, it is easier and less labor intensive to replace the whole unit instead of repairing a unit. It's all about time.

I cracked the passenger side outside mirror on my 2000 GS300. Lexus wanted $650 to fix it. As stated above, the unit is a painted replaceable subassembly. Talk about 7 years bad luck!
Anyway I went to the local glass place. They had replacement glass parts pre cut for the assembly. Cost a total of $30 including labor to install. The unit no longer has the heated surface, but for the extra $620 I can live without it. The guy at the glass place said he sees this all the time.
