Default Update!

Just to update you guys...the problem was 3 bolts came loose from the vvt and messed up my timing chain ect....$3500 to send engine out to get it fixed...this was a recall problem with other models but not the Es yet it happened to me! Check engine lights came on...ran rough...then completely died and would start...couldnt depress brake pedal! Is it cheaper to put in a used engine? Should the Es been a part of that recall?

Aya Curumba......thanks for the heads up, had not heard of this before. Did you have any other indications prior to it letting go? Worse fuel mpg, rattles/unusual noises? Not sure on if a rebuilt would be cheaper. It might be. Wife's car (Corolla) blew a head gasket, and we replaced it with a rebuilt. That rebuilt seemed to have more power and better gas mileage than the original. Good luck either way.
