Guess what I received in the mail today?
I received my annual auto survey for consumer reports today. Funny how this came up this morning on another thread. The ES350 is grouped together with older ES models, all the way back to 1998.
So, the reliability record of the ES350 will not be tarnished, but will be averaged in with 1998 through 2006 model ES's. Dunno, I believe you called that one already!
I will fill it out honestly, and base it upon my ownership only. My tranny does not flare. But, engine noise and rattles are evident.

Wow, so then CR predictions and findings on the ES350 will not be worth the paper they are printed on if they have all that lumped together.
That explains the data here and elsewhere in contrast to their recent predictions, they lump all that data together, where here and elsewhere it is just the ES350 itself.

I gotta say, overall the car is nice. Just some rattles and cold engine knock. But, I think we can all agree that we are more angry at Lexus for telling us these are normal characteristics of the car when they are not.

Same here, I would not rely on data on a toaster from CR anymore, let alone a car, that is what auto forums are for, digital consumer reporting from actual owners.

We may not rely on the data but when the 2007 Lexus ES350 is rated as a "model to avoid" in 2008, Lexus corporate will not be happy. Reporting of a Lexus (first time?) in this category will not bode well.

I also lost credibility in Motor Trend mag in 1970 when the named my Vaga car of the year, which 3 years later smoked it’s engine. Humm maybe the vaga was better than the Pinto’s gas tank Lol.
