I wanted to add some Dynamat to the doors! Anyone know how to remove the door panels?

ncblue...don't know about how to remove a door panel but am curious what the hang is Dynamat and what is it used for?

oh, thanks I saw that mentioned on IS forum and wondered what it was.

As a side note: If you have not checked all 5 underside rubber plugs each side of car and any are missing or pushed in, you WILL hear more road noise than you should otherwise.

Dreyfus will likely know how to get the door panel off and can help you with that or Phoenix if he surfaces for air on here.

Traveling on rough highway you can hear the noise coming through the doors especially from the rear speaker area.There's only a moisture barrier (a layer of clear plastic) and very little felt to block and absorb noise! I had a G35 coup (really noisey), added dynamat and what a big improvement.

You could go here and look at how the Camry door is removed... Probably similar to the ES.

In my experience no-matter what the manufacturer, there's always a screw or two in the door pull assist grip (behind a garnish) and another in the door latch opener. Sometimes there's a screw or two in the panel near the bottom or back edge, but they're usually visible or covered by a cap and easy to find.

Just look for places where screws could be, remove them and then tug lightly, if it doesn't come easily, look for additional screws. --->>> Keep in mind they like to hide behind trim pieces.

Okay, here goes.

Pry off the small triangular door handle cover (just forward of the lock and under the handle) from the rear. There are 3 plastic claws that hold it on.

Do the same thing to the wood armrest panel. There are 5 claws and 3 plastic clips.

Disconnect the wiring.

Remove the 3 screws in the power window switch and pull out the assembly (two claws).

Now remove the door switch assembly just behind the window switch (two more claws).

Pry out and disconnect the light at the bottom of the door.

Pry out the inner armrest cover piece (where you grip to close the door).

You’ll now have access to all 5 screws, one in the door handle, one in the armrest switch area, one under that cover piece you just removed, one in the air duct in the front of the door, and one in the middle of the rear edge. After removing, pop the inner door panel off the frame. There are 9 plastic clips, two on the front edge, four on the bottom edge, and three on the rear edge.

Tilt the bottom of the panel outward and lift the panel straight up, disengaging the four clips at the window line. The window weatherstrip will come loose too.

That’s it. When replacing, reverse this process. Note that there are two reference guideposts on the upper corners of the panel that set in holes in the metal doorframe. Make sure they’re properly aligned before buttoning everything up.
