Mr. Mehta at TTAC can't seem to resist taking another kick at Lexus, even in the editorial he wrote yesterday about the Lincoln MKX
Quote:
Just in case you missed the history lesson, Lincoln’s placed a gigantic star front and center. It reminds all and sundry that this luxo-crossover isn't a wannabe Lexus– it’s a rebadged Ford.

If he wrote the statement as a compliment to Lexus then the words "wannabe" and "Lexus" should have been reversed:
"...this luxo-crossover isn't a Lexus wannabe..."
The way it is written in the editorial:
"...this luxo-crossover isn't a wannabe Lexus..."
suggests that Mr. Mehta feels that Lexus vehicles are all "wannabes" of something else like perhaps BMW, MB, etc.
IMHO "wannabe Lexus" and "Lexus wannabe" have two distinctly separate meanings.

Judging by the last comment on my review of the ES350 and what I read here, it looks like Lexus better fix the chronic problems with their re-bodied Camry soon.

this kind of reminds me of a debbie downer, always trying to fault something
"hey I won the lottery!"
"oh well, you will have to give half to taxes"
its a $35000 car, and a good one considering what $35000 gets you these days
Hell if I was being paid to critique cars im sure I can find alot wrong with any of them.
I dont know where the engine noise complaint is coming from either, I think its just about non-existant unless you have your foot to the floor, then what do you think horsepower sounds like? It aint quiet thats for sure!

i think this review is right on.
regarding engine noise, just refer to my thread
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=256231
If lexus is trying to copy benz, they got it right this time. That's a 1989 benz you hear under the hood.
the acoustics don't sound like a lexus... anymore. My 2003 es300 is much quieter on the outside. At least lexus should make it not sound like a truck.
i think some of us are being blinded by the ultrashiny lexus emblem on the car.
i have to say, my 350 drives like a camry. though, a comfortable camry. I've rented an 06 camry, so i can say so.

Have not noticed you on here in a while.
While some may not agree with aspects of your review I feel certain the majority here would be inclined to view it an admirable quality you possess that as one having reviewed the car you actually take time to visit this forum and answer member comments pertaining to your findings to clear up any misunderstandings or explain aspects.
I have not noticed any other reviewer having nationwide exposure to their findings be this willing to actually address feedback.

even better then getting paid to review cars- NOT getting paid!
where do I sign up?
I am not at all blinded by the lexus logo, I always call the car my camry.
I accept the car for what it is, I dont think I have a $80k car on my hands.
I went in to buy a GS and could not justify the money, I am beyond the point of trying to impress strangers with what I drive.
That money saved goes towards things that are not a depreciating item.

Hey Bob,
Yeah, if I have the time, I scour the forums before or after I publish a review. It only makes sense to learn from owners of that vehicle, and the Internet makes it soooo easy.
For example, I learned a LOT about the BMW M6 (review forthcoming) after reading what the owners said about it on the forums. Turns out, what I saw on my tester isn't much different from the trouble-prone units hitting the real world. Quite frankly, it was depressing.
Hey, I like it. And if you are serious, email the editor...he can give you more details on the format.

yeah. forums have the best reviews.
we may be the minority, but the majority doesn't post on the internet, but rather, takes their car straight to the dealer. we never hear about these people.
i have to wait 3 weeks to get an appointment at the dealer. And this dealer has a huge brand new service garage. 4 rows, ~50-60 car slots. and i still have to wait 3 weeks.....
