Default SC and Camry Solara?

After seeing so many posts comparing the ES350 and the new Camry, I was thinking is the SC class based on the Solara platform? They sure do look similar as well. Im afraid to post this in the SC forum cus they'd prolly kick my azzz. The SC is gorgeous tho...no doubbt about it.

I think the SC is about the ugliest car I've ever seen (the GS and the Pontiak Aztek just edging it out perhaps). It looks like a bathtub on wheels. The dimensions are so "off" it's hard to even describe. The roof is way too small for the oversized body and it simply looks abysmal.

The Solara, OTOH, looks rather nice.

Kaius:
You are right that there seems to be a design link between the SC (especially the SC430) and the Toyota Solara. There is a Toyota commercial that runs frequently here showing the rear end of a car as it makes its way through the assembly line. I can never make up my mind whether it is a Solara or an SC430, but it has the distinctive curved rear quarter panels and the rear lip associated with both models. But if I am not mistaken, the SC (at least the SC300/SC400) are based on the Toyota Supra platform.

I agree with you about the Aztek......that is one very ugly vehicle and the Honda "Element" is not far behind it either...(IMHO)
But I do like the look of the SC430 when the top is down.

I actually like the look of the SC430....very unique and sporty. Even better with the top down.

What's wrong with the GS? I think it's cute, like the IS. Well, actually, I like the IS better.

Definitely not. Solara/Camry/Avalon/ES platform is FWD and SC is RWD. I know that previous generation SC coupe was based on Toyota Supura platform as well as GS but not sure about the new generations of GS and SC430. Does anyone know more detail on this? They definitely has nothing to do with camry but may be sharing the platform with LS???

By the way, RX series, Toyota highlander and Sienna is loosely based on Camry platform as well.

By the way, I am new to the club in behalf of my mother who just purchased a 07 ES350. Someone wracked her 01 GS430 few days ago. Although I don't own any lexus my self, I became a big fan after her and this is my first post.
