Default Question for Ingram 4868

I see by your identifier that you have a 2005 Avalon and a 2007 ES 350. Would you mind giving us your thoughts on the two vehicles including gas mileage, handling, interior room/fit, acceleration, sound quality, etc.
Thanks in advance,
wstr75

As for gas mileage the Avalon gets better overall mileage at a steady 26 MPG per tank while our ES is getting 24.5 overall. The Avalon seems to be a little quicker in acceleration but that is not an important issue for me. The Avalon has more interior room for us big guys and the seats push back further and lower than the ES or the GS. As for interior road noise, the Avalon is good but the ES is better. The Avalon JBL sound system is wonderful while the ES standard system is ok. As for handling they seem to be about the same to me. Both turn quick and the ride is smooth.

The NAV system in the Avalon is poor compared to the ES touch screen. The cup holders have a better location in the Avalon. I'm also told that the interior of the ES is all leather materials while the Avalon is leather only in areas where your body touches materal.

While many of the mechanicals are shared between the cars the new 6 speed ES tranny is superior in shift smoothness. Overall, I really like my Avalon for the interior size and layout. There are a couple of features with the Avalon that I like better than the ES; the turn signal arrows in the side mirrors is nice, the reclining rear seats, the fan for the heating/cooling seats is quiet, the interior overhead lights is far brighter for my ailing eyes.

My wife and I love the Lexus dealer/service experience and when I found out that our Lexus dealer will also service my Avalon that just made my day.

David, thanks for the information. Sounds like the Avalon is a great car and compares favorably to the ES 350 in many respects.
