I do the same as Redefined. Once the dealership has any money from you, the ball is in their court. This worked fine at the Lexus dealership where we got our car - And the purchase experience was fine after we agreed on a price and trade in value. They were OK without a deposit from us. They asked for one, but we declined.

Ya have everything in writing thats the important thing. Crooked dealers are the worst breed. Dont let a few bad apples ruin your car selection decision. Lexus is way better than Acura in every way shape or form. My brother in law works for Honda, and everyone in his department drives a toyota. Defintely get deal from another dealership. Best way to shop for car now is ONLINE. They will quote you via email, and you do all your negotiation on the phone or email. Once the deal is made, go get your car.... No hassle...took me 1 hr total at the dealership, and half of that hour was used for explanations on features.
