Here's the wiper info from the Owner's Manual:
Here is Page 150 from the 2007 Lexus ES 350 Owner's Manual, Publication No. OM33685U, Part No. 01999-33685.
When trying to shift the wipers, the detent is VERY STRONG! The first time I tried it, I was afraid I was going to break something so I called the service department at my dealer. They assured me that it was okay to apply the necessary force to overcome the detent.

I will have to wait for the dealer to do it at the 5,000 mile tune up.

I told my wife that this was on Page 150 of our owners manual as we're Canadian. So she turns to Page 150 and what is there? Snow chains and tire instructions! NO wiper detent instruction at all. What is up with these different manuals?
Maybe you got the "Special Edition" manual or something.
