Default Windshield warning...

Just wanted to forewarn everyone about the replacement cost of the front windshield. I've had my ES about two weeks, and this week I got a small rock kicked up into my windshield driving home from work. The crack isn't bad right now, but it's in the corner so it will lengthen pretty quick. (The corners and edges get the most tension as the body and chassis flexes during driving.)

Anyway, the cost for a new windshield is $1300, plus tax. The dealer tells me there’s a piece of trim that must be broken in order to replace the windshield, which adds to the cost.

Ouch!

I guess it pays to get glass coverage for this baby.

It might also be because the new ES has that sound-proof windshield.

They also have to deal with the rain-sensing wiper sensor. Minor, I know, but it all contributes. Doesn't make my wallet feel any better!

Yeah, after paying the $500 deductible. Ugh.

Hey, not to digress off topic, but how's Sirius working for 'ya?

This may not be the appropriate place for it but the Sirius is working OK. Like all satellite based systems it has dropouts (trees and overpasses are especially mean) but the sound is great and all those selections. I wouldn't live without it.

ps. My comp is $250, collision is $500. Still ouch!

Default Update on Price

An update on price: I got a written quote from the dealer to replace the windshield, and the price went up to $1514.52 (plus tax). They said the other price I had gotten over the phone was probably for the '06 ES.

Expensive glass!!

ps: thanks, psp, for the Siruis info.

It coast my daughter $650 to replace her 91 LS400 windshield with Lesus glass. No rain
sensor or sound proof glass.
