Make sure you get the math right !
My 2010 ES has 37,500 on the Michelin Energy MXV4 S8s and are ready for replacement. I am satisfied with the longevity and really want the smooth and quiet ride. Besides, my spare has never been on the ground so I will buy three tires and use the spare, keeping the best of the worn tires for a spare. That will save $150+.
You can buy Michelin Primacy MXV4 H rated for $150 each .... and you can buy Energy MXV4 S8 for $200 each. Thus, you can buy 4 new MXV4 Primacy for the same as 3 Energy.
Then compare the user ratings. Primacy comes out WAY WAY better. Primacy will go for 60,000 with no problem. Energy will go for 40,000 miles and on the tirerack survy, Energy owners say WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN !!!!!!

Toyota quit using the Michelin Energy MXV4 S8 and now uses Primacy MXV4 V rated as OEM on Camry SE, Camry XLE & Avalon.
Consumer reports and tirerack surveys rate Primacy MXV4 H rated as the best tire for an excellent balance of treadwear, traction, fuel economy, braking, etc.
For more spirited driving or if you live in the mountains on twiting reads, Primacy MXV4 V rated
or Primacy MXM4 V rated might be a better choice.
The OEM MXV4 S8's are a horrible tire by comparison ... and more expensive. Of course nothing is worse than the Bridgestone Turanza EL400 OEM that wear out in 15K miles.

Its all about pricing, if its cheaper for them to use the Primacy, thats what they will use. The Primacy is a much better tire.
