Lexus Has Noise Absorbing Paint in 2007 ES350!
There was a Wall Street Journal article yesterday on automobile paint that mentioned that the new 2007 ES350 has noise softening paint. That's pretty cool.
The article had some discussion on car paint advances...some cool stuff coming our way.

It's only a matter of time before sitting in a Lexus means not hearing ANYTHING.
Of course this isn't always a good thing. After a long day at work I often find myself fighting to stay awake on the drive home. The interior's just so quiet and comfortable that I can't help but drift into sleep.

Sound Dampening Paint
My 2000 ES is still a nice ride but it has gotten noisier over the years. I'm looking forward to wrapping myself in the Lexus cocoon again and shutting out the world while travelling around the city.

Every auto maker selling in the US get's hit with the new paint regulations & has paint problems.
Yet Lexus/Toyota/Scion has the leetest OEM car paint ever within 2 years of *everybody* having some amount of problems!!! Amazing stuff!

IT said that the paint is of the floor pan, bascially a thick undercoat that cancels some noise, that sound deadening material or carpet doesn't cancel. It isn't like the whole car is sound-proof paint (or maybe 
)

guys, the special paint can't be anything more than a thicker undercoat.
What would noise dampening paint do on the roof, when most of the noise is from the road? THis should explain if the earlier LS had this paint. For the radar and laser, Lexus needs to get a hold of the Airforce to find out what paint they use on the stealth bombers, the technology is outthere.
