$108 trans fluid change good?
I know this has probably been asked before, but a got a quote of $108 at a Toyota dealership for a transmission fluid change. This only covers the draining, claning the filter, replacing the pan gasket and adding the new fluid, no flushing. With only 50k my ES is still in warranty for powertrain so does this mean I have to get it done at the Lex garage? The Toyota garage is a lot more convenient for me to go to.
Had some slipping problems(one time so far) going from reverse to drive. Lexus said that they reccomend trans changes every 30k miles. I found it a little odd for a 'near' luxury car to be so high maintenance. I am also the proud owner of an '87 Chevy Celebrity that has 135k and NEVER had the trans fluid changed and runs perfectly(shifts a little hard from 1st to 2nd but thats to be expected from old fluid) may don the Chevy fluid myself, but didn't want to get involved with a car that was still under warranty.
$108 didn't sound bad to me, but considering the parts total are probably less than $30 they are still getting $78 for labor....but at least I'll have the piece of mind of having the work done at a reputable dealership that stands behind their work.

Also note you said yourself it's not working well. <the bad>
Not to be mean or anything, but that's the silly kind of attitude the previous owner took care of my car for 10 years by never flushing the coolant system.
Guess who wound up flushing a nearly shut out engine block for 3 1/2 hours and still was getting orange out before he could even start relacing the radiator??? <the ugly>
FYI It's not the warrenty you should be concerned over. It's after that period of time...
