Went with the install of 20% on the rear windshield, 35% on the side windows. Looks good, I'm glad I didn't go darker on the side windows. It's pretty much all I wanted, something to help cut down on the sunlight beating on the interior during the summer.

Now I just have to wait a few days and let the damn tiny bubbles or whatever they are go away. Otherwise...blarg, back to the shop. I will get out in the next day or two and find a nice spot to take some pictures.

Madico Onyx. I am impressed with the reflective-ness of it being 35%. I think I should get black badging to help match, since the 65-profile tires do bring out the black!

Here's a quick pic

Seeing that lift makes me all the more ready to go with a H&R/Tokico setup, and then possibly Brembo slotted/EBC pads.....

Default tint problem

i got my car tinted a little while ago and the visiblity through the rear windshield is pretty bad. the tint didn't settle around the defroster lines and at night, the headlights of the car behind me are reflected up each defroster line, it's kinda hard to explain, but basically lookin through the rear windshield at night isn't very good. has anyone else experienced this? i went back to the shop and the guy said lexus has thick defroster lines and tint never really settles around them. is that a bunch of bull? the tint brand is llumar, a pretty respectable name. i need some feedback, i have a '92 es. if you guys say it should settle around the defroster lines, i'm goin back again and going to have them do the back over again, i have a lifetime guarentee and warrenty on it. thanx

Do you mean you see several horizontal bars of reflected light as a result of another car's headlights diffracting through your defroster?

If so, yes, I have the same problem.

If your shop tinted around the defroster lines, then there may be a gap of several micrometers above and below the defroster. Some light entering your car will be deflected by the tint, but the areas that are not tinted will be of greater intensity and therefore you get the annoying glare.

My advice: Tint over the defroster lines or get used to it (like I've been forced to. )

Question

Will the rear window defroster melt window tint? Do you need to get a special kind or do they trim around the defroster wires?

thanks

Default yea man

i just had my windows tinted and the guy at the tint install place said they r hard to keep from bubbling. the place i took it to jus went over it and said it was going to bubble. i dont think it will have a problem with melting. so far so good for me. i have pics of my 93 with the back window done, check it out.

Default window tint/ seal

for all you guys out there with a 92-96 es300 wut kind of tints should i get on my lite grey stock lex? 25 percent, 35 percent, limo style illegal 5 percent? i def want black ones so no other color suggestions please (such as silver).

i also got another question. since old school es300s dont have any window frames wen it rains or i wash my car condensation builds up around the window. it is like this on all of em or do i have to change my seals? my car has 110,000 miles on it but its pretty mint otherwise.

i went with 50% for the front two windows and 17% for the rears, it's excellent except for the rear window visiblity. lexus has big defrost lines on the rear windshield so the tint doesn't mold around them. it's only noticeable at night, and isn't very bad. here's some pics
