There is a lot of glass on the es so this tint will definitely help in the summer. What color combination is your car?
Black exterior with Ivory (tan) leather interior. Thanks for the recommendations. I was confused and did not realize that 20% actually was a darker tint then 35%. Thanks again.

I wont go any higher than 20% on any of my cars. Going with a tint that is any lighter, I just feel like its useless. I've done the 35% all around before, then a week later I went back to go darker.

I have buddies that will go with 5% on their cars, and it looks good, but they get pulled over ALL the time. I think 20% is about perfect, not to dark, not to light.

Yeah, that could have been pretty bad. When an officer comes up next to me, or even behind me, I will crack my window and/or the sunroof to let some light in. That way, it does'nt look quite as dark for the officer.

I went 35% on the sides because all tints are illegal in new york state unless you have a medical reason, and the rear widow can be as dark as you want, at least this is wht i'm told. With the black interior and dark car, and i am a younger kid, did want it to be to dark and get pulled over

Yeah it does suck sometime being a younger driver. Sometimes if feels like the officer will give me a hard time just because I'm a younger guy (22, I think thats kinda young).

I had no idea that tint was illegal in new york, thats no good. I would try to talk my docter into saying I have really sensitive eyes or horible migrains from sunlight

One last question. When shopping for tint, is there a particular brand that is superior that anyone recommends?

I to went with solargard, and my dad is a doctor, so i got it signed by him, a certa
in form for my eyesight since i do have glasses, i just have to mail it in. Im 16, so im at that age where im sure cops hassle you for nothing. Fortunately, at least i think, i know some people where if i get into trouble, i could probably drop a name or two to get out of trouble, i just do not want to get into that situation haha

Damn, you NY guys have it rough. Can't have tint, and if you do, you get a $360 ticket

And is'nt there a law that says you can't talk on your cell phone while driving? I don't know if I could handle that.

Default Window tint

I've been thinking about tinting my windows on my 1996 es300. I jst wanna know what's the legal tint percentage. I am planning on doing the tint myself with the tint roll. Has anyone done it themselves?

Windshield No tint is allowed on the windshield.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 50% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 50% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 50% of light in.

ALL OF THIS IS PRETTY CRAPPY.......IT WILL BE A SLIGHT TINT. WORTH ALMOST NOTHING IMO. EACH STATE HAS DIFFERENT TINT LAWS. AND YOUR STATE IS UNFORTUNATE. BUT IF CHOSEN TO GET TINT, I RECOMEND GETTING A PROFESSIONAL TO DO IT. ITS WORTH THE INVESTMENT. AND IS SOMEWHAT A SKILL, IF YOU WILL

IM IN MD, AND THE LEGAL LIMIT IS 35% ALL AROUND WITH A 6INCH WINDSHIELD BROW. I TOOK THE CHANCE WITH 20, BECAUSE OF MY LIGHT INTERIOR, THE TINTMAN RECOMENDED IT. NO PROBLEMS YET.

some people risk it and do a good job, but you risk making amature mistakes. I.e. Fingerprints, wavy job, bubbles, a mess in the car...
