Angry Bad Rack & Pinion?

Whenever I make a wide left turn my steering wheel gets stuck momentarily and i hear a snap as if something was holding it back. I've been told this may be my rack and pinion, but is there a less costly solution, since its only on left turns? I just had both axles changed so I'm tryin to save $$.

Did you ever check the belt that drives the power steering pump? If it's glazed it might be slipping and that can cause this problem.

Yes the steering rack is a fairly expensive part rebuilt or especially brand new. Are you leaking p/s fluid? And when was the last time you checked the power steering fluid?

Exclamation

Is the alternator belt also connected to the P/S pump? If so, I just had it changed. My P/S fluid is fine it reads MAX. I want to explore all options before I change the steering rack.

Hmmm. are your CV boots still in tact or are they dried and cracked?

Hmmm. Did you check your belts to make sure they weren't slipping? I'm gonna have to go with a faulty rack with the symptoms and conditions you described. I wish i was there to hear the sound to replicate the problem.
