some input please!
I've been looking for a new car for a while now! I would love to get a supra but there just isn't enough of them in my area. I found a 1993 lexus es300 on the net for 4500.00! it has 185k miles and it's loaded. I haven't gone to look at the car yet but I plan to soon. Is that a reasonable asking price he put up or what should I try and bargain him down to?

honestly, i can tell you that Lexus is one of the most reliable cars ever made. i own a 92' ES300 that i paid $5,500 for about a year and a half ago (the dealership was asking 6,500 and i bargained down). it had 161k on it and now it has 173k. i'm only 17 years old, and it's the only car i have ever owned, but for the money i paid for it, i couldn't have asked for a better car. i haven't had ANY major problems with it at all. just a few oil leaks that needed new seals and a new power steering hose. the labor costed much more than the parts did. my 92 is virtually identical to the 93 you're gonna be looking at, and even with over 180k i'd say $4,500 is a darn good deal. if i were you, i'd get the car checked out by either a lexus or a toyota dealership before i purchased it. if everything checks out fine i'd try and offer $4,000 straight up, and just see what kind of deal they can make you. good luck on purchasing this Lexus. i hope to see you posting in this forum soon!

I agree. Have it checked by a mechanic. $4500. is a good price, but be sure nothing is wrong with it. Good luck on your purchase.

run the VIN through www.carfax.com.
run your zip code and the stats of the car through www.kbb.com and www.vehix.com to get a varied idea of the prices you may encounter for a car of that year and mileage in your geographical area. Be sure to select retail value, not trade in.
