Sorry guys that was not my intention.

So my original Lexus Xenon bulb burned out after 15 years of service. It did not fully burn out but turned pink, which is an indication it's going to go soon from my understanding.

I purchased 2 Phillips Xenon HID bulbs on amazon a few years ago to have on hand just in case this day came. I think I paid around 35-40 bucks per bulb. It's the Xenon D2R bulb Made in Germany, OEM repalcement.

Here the Lexus dealer wants like $ 250 per bulb, it's ridiculous, go Canada!

The left light is easy to change.

1. Disconnect the battery

2. Disconnect cable from plastic cap

3. Rotate counter clockwise

4. The cap will pop off and there will be a metal piece with a power cable connected to the bulb.

5. Twist the metal piece counter clockwise I believe and pop it off the bulb.

6. The bulb is held in place with 2 metal pins, move them to the side and the bulb will become loose.

7. Take the bulb out.

8. When installing the new bulb make sure not to touch the actual bulb with your bare hands or get it dirty.

9. Place new bulb into the socket, then secure the metal pins so it stays in place.

10. Reinstall the metal piece and twist it clockwise to lock it into place, there are grooves you can see on it that fit the bulb.

11. Place everything back into headlight housing, reattach big plastic seal cap, then reconnect the power cable.


For the right side it is more tricky. I had to remove the battery from the car to be able to get to the housing and have the space to maneuver. After I removed the battery the process is the same as the left bulb.

Once you have everything in reinstall the battery, make sure you connect everything, and check for tools you used on the engine lol, as you don't want to close the hood with a wrench still there (ask me how I know haha).

I have the sae car as yours, still with the original HID bulbs. Although they're still ok, I'm sure they'll go soon. Pre-ordering as you did was smart. I'll do the same thing.

How did those new bulbs turn out? Do they deliver to Canada?

The new bulbs are great same as original maybe even brighter since they are new. I got them shipped to the US. It's 55 minutes drive for me to buffalo. I go for chicken wings and a beer, and pick up some stuff from a US mail box

Not sure if they ship to Canada but if they do you will probably have to pay duties etc.

Just get a set from XenonDepot... they're outside of Toronto.

I'd rather support a canadian business that actually has FAIR prices for canadian & US buyers.

I was super happy with their 5k D2R bulbs, after a less than stellar experience with Morimoto...

Actually, while I was doing a bit of research for a good source for these bulbs, I realized that Xenon Depot, is not only a Canadian company, but their prices are good, and their reviews are excellent. So that's exactly my plan.

My only dilemma is wether to buy the original 4k, or perhaps switch to 5k, or 6k. I'll probably just end up going with the original 4k bulb.

Get 5k... you'll hate the yellowness of 4300k.

WHich is why I had a bad time with morimoto. I wish I had saved the pics, I did a side-by-side with the "new" bulb vs. original ones that came with my headlamps and it was really ugly and bad lighting.

If you see my thread, you'll see the output [in one of hte posts about the bulbs] with the 5k color.

For me that is the "best" bulb for output at the sacrifice of 1-200lm without looking like a halogen [seriously, they were that yellow...], and the most usable/show type lights.

To each their own, but all I will ever get is 5k from here on out. Have them in LED form on a CT200h and on hid RX330. As well was going to order some soon for my subaru.

I would definitely get 5K at least. I have the 4300K Philips bulbs and they are a little too yellow. XenonDepot is great. I ordered the 6K but they sent me the 5K by mistake and they took care of me. Can't recommend them enough.

ok anyone have the part number could post it for the 5k and 6k thanks im new to this can I just replace the OEM bulb for the 5k or do I have to get the extreme kit
