so i i bought a new aftermarket fuel filter but noticed that the old one has this "hump" ( red colour) but the new one does not. any idea if that normal.
The procedure seems easy. just remove the upper hose and for bottom one remove the nut. the filter is held but a clamp in the middle.
so not a difficult procedure. i did youtube and google but could not find this type. plus the new one has 2 washers..looks like may not use them...ummmmmmmmmm
any idea.

ok i finally got it. that hump is just a plastic piece for protection. anyways the new filter i got was not a good quality one. But went with oem instead. there was some leak with the new aftermarket one..lesson learned ..
anyways the procedure is very simple and easy.

Curious, what prompted you to change the filter? I mean, was the car not running well or something?

Yeah I was a little curious too. From the looks of it, that looks like is was the original filter.

ya no reason to change..its just due to the age of the car. i want to keep the car as long as possible.
the new filter does look same.but i think for some reason buying with a whole bracket holding would be better because for some reason the bottom bolt just would not stay on properly. maybe it was me or the filter but when i put the old one back in it was really easy and the bolt fit in just one try. so thats why i went with oem.
ALso i noticed from the filler neck that the old filter was black as compare to the new on which was clear.

Bringing this old thread back to life as I have a question.
Where is the fuel filter located?

I haven't looked yet but I suspect that I am having issues with a clogged filter as I loose a little acceleration when I first press on the gas and then the car will move just fine. I suspect that my filter is clogged as this started happening right after I almost ran out of gas.

Which car? Your 00 I have not worked on but my reference says under the master cylinder.

The 04 has an in-tank one and not easily accessible. It is a wire screen anyway and would not clog unless you had saran wrap or a huge amount of large rust flakes in your tank.

It's for the 2000 model.
I'm gonna take a look under the hood this weekend and attempt to change it out.
Hopefully it will be rather easy to do.
Is the fuel line pressurized?
If so, do I just use small clamps or a large screw to stop the flow?

ya like Oro said its under the master brake cylinder. Also its rather easily accessible. You should remove the engine filter cover for better area
Well i just unbolt the screws holding the filter , but a proper way is to remove the fuse while the engine is running and then remove the bolts. otherwise when you unbolt them fuel will leak out and its combustible so you want to be careful when working of fuels.
Just wondering what gas stations you fill up and also what grade.

Since there's no DIY for this, just wondering if you had to replace the washers?

I replaced a similar one on my 96 Integra GSR and it required 2 new crush washers placed on both sides of the fuel line hose.

Also the bottom end, any special tools needed to remove that line? or is it just a flare nut wrench that will do?

Like OP, don't have any performance issues, but the car is 15 years old and this is a maintenance item so I would like to replace it eventually, plan to go with an oem filter when I do.

BTW, I fill up at my local Costco and Run Premium 92 octane, which I've run in all of my cars, I just finished the other half of the bottle of Liquid Moly Jectron cleaner the other day.
