Who else, besides a dealership, can cut or program a key? Can an Ace Hardware or similar place do it?

What year is your es? The 2nd gen RX guys were doing this mod and there was a eBay seller cutting the keys and sending them but couldn't do my es because of the how the remote buttons are...there all vertical and lined up while the RX is in a 2,1 position. Wonder how you did it since the interior of your es looks like mine.

I am sure beside the dealer can also cut car keys. Just make sure its reputable and have done before.


Mine is a 2000 ES. ya i think yours is 1997 year and the key fob is different . one seperate key to start the car and one seperate for remote doors locks. and even the remote door locks have different design. so i the key design will not fit your year. The RX is same as mine .
thenBut you know i think u can get same key what i have. 1st will have to get the blank key (the one i got from ebay) and a new transponder , then get it cut and then youtube how to program it into new transponder. and i think you will be all set. here is the link to program into the new key :

What's the cost? So it is possible? I rather have one item than 2 that I have now. My Acura tsx has a blade key fob.

I asked my dealership if I could combine the remote with the key since the 98 es300 keys are separate from the remote. They said it can't be done. I hate carrying both of them and wish it were a combined key with remote. ugh. I'm jealous.

I am still pretty sure theres a way to it. try ebay and search for keys and many of them will have a transponder with some ID number to it. try to match that with yours or contact those ebay sellers about it. thats waht i would do .
heck when i wanted to get a new flip key design even the dealer said no way. But i knew there was a way. and now the dealer is like "wow i did not know there was a way" ..lol

I've contacted one seller and they said it didn't work because of the key fob button arrangement unless there was a flip key fob that looked like the 97-99 models.

I'm wondering if you could program a 2001 remote with your 97-99 then put that remote in the flip key. I don't think the 97-99 models have a transponder so you wouldn't have to worry about the key not working but I may be wrong. I guess someone with more programming experience would have to let you know.

^^^ ya i was thinking of that one. and i think it might work. there is some extra step involved but its doable.
