new flip key : check it out
So as usual my old key (both of them) broke off and so i thought of getting a new key look . i hated the key look that came with the car so i got a new key of ebay and went to a local delaer and had it cut for only $10. the key was also a bit less around $10..
I removed the transponder remote (lock, unlock and trunk relase) and transfered it to the new key fob. It fit perfectly.
here is a video of it.

i am really liking it. However there is no Lexus logo at the back. Meh i am fine with that for now

well nope..it was a hyundai dealer. But they are owned by same company. and lexus dealer did not have the machine to cut the key. So they advised me to go to Hyundai dealer.

My lexus dealer cuts and programs these keys for $60 bucks, to just program it is $30. That being said people have said that their dealers have flat out denied cutting keys, so it depends. If you're in Ohio, try Classic Lexus. When i went to school there, they were the dealer i went to for everything.

no u guys..the key fob is acutually very light ..lighter than the original one. i was hoping to be heavy like germans do it.
Also i do feel i have to crank less pressure them oem one. and feel sooooooooo much confident in holding it, fliping the key blade, pressing unlock or lock and starting the car.
Ya call other dealers too to see if they can cut it.
I am really happy i made this switch i showed to my local favorite mechanic and they too were very happy with it and liking the "new" look.

nope..no programming required. as long you have the transponder buttons working fine , you are good to go. JSUt make sure the cutting of the new key is done properly

Imherenow didn't need new electronics for the key, only the key cut. He just transferred the old remote over to the flip key. It is very expensive to get a key cut and programmed to your car by the Lexus dealer (about what you got quoted)

you know i dont think you dont need to program after cutting the key as long as you have original transponder buttons working. Just the cut the new key and tranfer the old transpnder into new one and you are good to go.
My dad also had same problem few years ago. he broke his old key from 2001 RX300..so he went to lexus dealer and they cut the new key and put the old transponder into the new key and he was ready to start the car. Now ya he charged him $100. .
But i think i will tell him to switch over to the new key design ... maybe he will the new key
