Default Two posts in one day... Oil pressure light

A little history - I purchased by 96 Lexus es 300 at the beginning of December I had a mechanic check it out before buying it - and he let me know that I needed some gaskets changed some oil leaks fixed and he wanted to change the oil pressure switch.

In the report for the initial repair it was reported that during the test drive the oil pressure was low - they then did a oil change and sludge removal. - this we December 10th.

I stopped in since then to get some bulbs replaced in my instrument panel. My stop light indicator was going off - but at that time the mechanic told me that he checked the light an that it was fine and it may be electrical.

Today while driving my low oil pressure light started to flicker. It was running normally no sounds from the engine and the indicator was coming off and on randomly.

I took it to a different mechanic today - they verified that indeed the switch was new and they said my oil was full - they took my car for a drive and said that it wasn't tapping and that it didn't appear that I was losing oil pressure.

Unfortunately the mechanic that worked on my car is on vacation and I am not sure what to do at this point or what the problem could be.

Any clue?

Based on the info you've provided the engine has a sludge problem that has lead to major internal damage. First step it to install an oil pressure gauge to verify what kind of oil pressure the engine actually has.

Just took the car to another mechanic - as I wait for my regular mechanic to come back in town. They told me that my oil pressure is fine and my pump is working fine. They told me that I may have some wires that are touching and causing that indicator to light up. He also mentioned that the car is in amazing condition mechanically and even the interior for it to be an older vehicle.

He also said I may want to switch to thicker oil since my car is older.
