Rear creak/squeak, rear auto headlight leveling sensor
Hey guys, so I developed a creak within the last few weeks and had trouble tracking it down. Finally i determined it was my headlight leveling sensor. Now only ES' with the factory HIDs have this sensor to my knowledge so it doesn't pertain to everyone. So here is what the sensor looks like, in this picture I have the nut removed from the sensor arm. This is right behind the muffler.
Here it is up close:
Next I removed the bottom endlink and pulled off the arm and endlink assembly. Both nuts are 10mm.
As you can see the sensor arm is terribly rusted, and that circle on it is actually a washer, but it was completely rusted to the arm. The endlink was actually in good shape so I just left it alone.
I sanded it down where it connects to the sensor. I added anti-seize to the sensor threads and lubed up the washer and arm.
Last I just put it all back how it was before and bam, no more creaking

I had NO idea such a sensor existed back there, thanks for posting this! Will take a look at mine to see the condition.

Hi
How do you know if this is your problem and not bushings etc? I pressed down on my rear fender and the squeaking is reproduced. Any input? I have attached a picture of my sensor if that helps. Thank you for the input!

Ah yes i had same issue last year or so and it was actually the lexus dealer who pin pointed it out, which i was very surprised. Anyways after few days and searching on IS forums and i just found that the endlink was in very bad shape and had cracks. So i jsut bascially removed that endlink completely and had zip tie. Since then no problem and no indication on the instrument panel.
