I just bought an '02 with 133K for 8K. IMO was a great deal. I did a motor flush as I do with every car I purchase. I also did a Tranny fluid and filter change. I do own an OBDII scanner/reseter and it was clean. Other than that you should be able to kick the tires and test drive it for any weird sounds and make a decision.

ok then, thanks for all the input on buying a used Lexus ES300. Learned a lot and it seems I'm not the only one looking for advice on the same matter.

After sifting through the reply's, the best choices from Lexus owners of the ES series leaned toward the 1998 to 2001's for various practical reasons. From better transmissions in some, to year to year component improvements and some reasons just based on upgraded options..(Like the 2000 to 2001's) So long story short, I finally found one in the color and option package I was looking for (Crystal white, Platinum package with beautiful chrome wheels, wood trim interior, and gold badges.

Mileage 117,000..timing belt done at 87,000 and a pile of work orders and receipts for all other work done. New OEM floormats, current service up to date, good tires and brakes, no CEL's. and a rust free no dings or nasty stuff Carcheck West Coast one owner history, for $5500.00
