swaying HELP

Unhappy swaying HELP

2004 lexus es330. my problem is car rear is swaying. feels like wheels are rolling. had links and bar checked bought new tires. 1 said lower control arm bushing $500.1 said shocks $800 help :

The description you give doesn't make it perfectly clear to me ("wheels are rolling"), but it could be shocks or shocks+springs. Mileage on car? Conditions/use? A control arm bushing could also be bad, but wouldn't give the more extreme feeling I think you are describing all on it's own.

2004 is getting in to the zone they are likely shot if original. If you are mechanically inclined, you can do your rear shocks yourself for about $200 if there are no other problems. Insulators and mounts don't wear out typically unless extreme use (NYC cab-driver conditions, e.g.).

When our 02 had shot rear shocks, it felt like the rear end was floating in turns - swaying like you describe. The shocks provided no dampening action at all on the springs so they'd oscillate and give you this "floaty" feel.
