I have a 96 ES300 in my pics, i had this problem already, fix it, do not drive it, its the power steering hose it shares the fan in the front, same hose, replace it get it from www.rockauto.com

I realize that this is way out of date, but someone may get some help anyway. When a car overheats, one of the first things to suspect is a clogged radiator. Some can be rodded out i.e. cleaned, but often newer types must be replaced. Now, my wife's 97 ES300 has started boiling over into the reservoir, and not returning fluid to the radiator. New cap, same issue. My favorite mechanic got into it today and found;

Previous front end damage repaired by huge soldering of radiator (plugging it) and HIDING the repair from view.
Same thing, all tranny cooling lines cut off and plugged.
Wrong fan installed.

Interestingly, that shop, run by a high level religious official, who was so nice to me while accepting a large repair check from me. But only a couple of weeks later, he suddenly passed from a massive heart attack. HMMM.

My mech found all this stuff and then charged me a lot less than I feared, and delivered the car to my gate.

All in all, I had added power steering fluid, replaced the thermo, rad cap, hydraulic fan motor and upper and lower radiator hoses.

Then got the whole engine replaced due to blown HG...

It STILL overheated due fluid loss.

Turns out it was the heater core leaking. I have no heater now, but also no overheating. If anything, it runs too cold now.

It's hard to say what the original cause was... I think it was the heater core. At least I know what to look out for now.
