Knock Sensor and Oil Control Valve
Hello all. New to Club Lexus but have had some awesome help with my Aurora through their forum so thought I'd try it out for the Lexus. My wife has a 99 ES300 Coach Edition. Recently it was having some problems accelerating so checked the CEL Code and it came back to the Knock Sensors. After doing some research I see that its an expensive job at the dealer or a local mechanic so my father in law and myself are going to do it ourselves. The car started running a lot rougher so checked the CEL again and now along with the Knock Sensor Code I have a code for the Oil Control Valves. Now, here come the questions:
*Do the two coincide with each other? If I fix the Knock Sensors is there a chance that that will clear the Oil Control Valve code?
*Knock Sensors are priced from two for $30 on eBay to $198 for OEM from pretty much any auto part store. I found some for $98 a piece on Rock Auto which I am leaning toward, any of you have any experience with any of these?
*For the Knock Sensor job I know I need the pair of sensors, the harness, that bypass hose, the intake gaskets, and coolant. Anything else I need or should do while I have it disassembled? I was thinking of the spark plugs and PCV valve at least.
*Any body else that has done this, any tips or pointers you can suggest before I do it? I know the sensors require a specified torque when installed, anything else?
I really appreciate any input or expertise advice. Its never fun doing these jobs but the sense of accomplishment afterwards is always great. Thanks again!

I'm not going to comment on anything else, except to say that if you do change knock sensors, than get the original ones from Toyota or Llexus. They're more expensive, but will work.
Most aftermarket knock Senors dont play nice with this car, and since this is a labor intensive job, you don't want to do it twice.

I'm doing a similar job and I'd add in the injector seals, all four (per). But don't used the toyota o-rings, they are just nitrate ones, get some Viton seals, it will be half the price and twice the quality.
