99% of the Time your Symptoms are related to Warped Rotors - New Rotors are often just thick enough to pass the thickness test but not thick enough to be turned or well used. They warp easily. You will feel a pulsing in the pedal as you stop. That should say Front Rotors only. Usually the replacement of the front rotors and Pads will do it. Be sure to use the correct anti-squeal formula - Ceramic is different than regular. Clean the Brake Slides and apply proper brake formula to ensure even wear on the pads and prevent friction as the caliper slides the pads toward the rotor. Torque Brake Brace to spec, then tighten brake caliper snuggly. Loose Brake Braces will cause a great deal of damage and are dangerous.
@Innoutfan: I went with Hawk OES pads since they have good dust reviews and a little better than OEM. They were on sale for around $27 on eBay. I was about to go with Hawk HPS for a better braking power, but the HPS were $75. The OES are probably fine for a daily driver.
@Johnbros01: Thanks for the tips. It sounds like the rotors are the culprit. I will give it a shot this week. I'll post back with the results.
I have installed new Brembo blank rotors, new calipers, and Hawk OES brake pads tonight to the front sides. The job took me about 3 hours with a race after sunset, and careful use of brake cleaner, Syl Glyde, and grease to the braking system. I also did a few 30-40mph and 60mph break-in after everything is done.
Overall, I like the new bling. However, I am very disappointed to say that it DID NOT fix the vibration problem! The car brakes a lot faster, but vibration is still there, same as it was. I can feel the vibration going strong at 40mph to a stop. So now it is either the bearings, or the wheels and tires are not balance. Those are my only options left.
I guess this is warped afterall. The passenger side (not pictured) is smooth, unlike this one. But that does not justify how the vibration continues even after new rotors.
er, .. new rotors need to be skimmed too. They come out of balance. I've never had one that was true. My brake guy used to say, his lathe shows most new rotors are as much as 1-2mm out of true.
Disconnect an ABS sensor and test drive it. This is exactly the symptoms I had and replaced rotors and pads twice before the sensor fault code showed up. By disconnecting the sensor your dash will light up with Trac, VSC, abs, and brake fault indicators as the entire automated braking system shuts down on any fault.
My guess is your ABS system is engaging when you brake.
